Playa Es Figueral, Ibiza

Tucked into the wild northeast coast of Ibiza, in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, Playa Es Figueral is one of the island's most authentic beaches. Backed by low cliffs, pine and juniper, and washed by some of the clearest water on Ibiza, it is our home base and the launch point for every kayak, SUP and snorkel adventure we run.

Where is Es Figueral?

Es Figueral sits on the rugged eastern shore, roughly 25 minutes by car from both Ibiza Town and Santa Eulària, and about 20 minutes from the airport plus the drive north. The beach is reached by a short, signposted road off the main route between Santa Eulària and Sant Carles. There is parking nearby, a couple of beach restaurants, and easy access to the sand, so you can arrive relaxed and ready for the water.

What the beach is like

This is a long, open stretch of golden-brown sand with a gentle entry into the sea. Because it faces northeast, the light is beautiful in the morning and the water is famously transparent, with shifting bands of turquoise and deep blue. It stays calmer and quieter than the busy south of the island, which makes it ideal for beginners learning to paddle as well as experienced sea kayakers looking for open-water lines.

The Tagomago marine area

Just offshore lies Tagomago, a small private island and protected marine area that defines this coast. Paddling toward Tagomago you glide over seagrass meadows of Posidonia oceanica (a UNESCO-recognised habitat that keeps the water so clear), past sea caves, rocky coves and cliffs alive with seabirds. The shelter of the channel and the richness of the seabed make it one of the best places in Ibiza for snorkelling and for spotting fish, rays and the occasional octopus.

Opening hours & rentals

The beach base is open every day from May to October, 10:00–18:30 in the summer season. On the sand you can rent kayaks and stand-up paddle boards by the hour, half-day or full day for your own self-guided excursion. Find us right on the beach, or at our office on the main road just before the car park.

During the low season (November–April) the Kayak Ibiza team runs Community Kayak outings every weekend, usually on Sunday mornings from 10:00–13:30, visiting a different corner of the island each time depending on the weather.
